The Out-of-the-Way Corner Joins In

The Commons at Eudora Welty’s Birthplace began a soft opening to the public in 2008 and wanted to go into the new year with a signature art installation to spark public awareness of their location and the new renovation taking place. At their invitation, johnson requested to create directly in the midst of an interior renovation temporarily on hold.

This nylon filament and muslin fabric installation floats in space but is defined by the limits of the structure in which it weaves and plays; directing the viewers attention to out-of-the-way architectural spaces and creating a whimsical atmosphere.
